Overview

Why take this course?

This course will introduce you to the design process and making clothes for the fashion industry. Knowledge and skills relating to textile design for garment decoration are also developed by use of drawings, mixed media and surface application.

This course is suitable for school leavers who wish to learn more about a career in fashion and garment manufacture, or those who have practical skills and fashion design experience who wish to gain a formal qualification.

What you will experience

Topics include fashion forecasting, fashion design and digital fashion, as well as technical aspects such as garment pattern construction, surface decoration and how to develop and manufacture skirts. You’ll also get to grips with the hands-on side of things when you produce life and analytical drawings, dress mannequins and operate industrial sewing machines.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have at least National 5, Intermediate 2 or Standard Grade Credit qualifications in Art & Design and English. Alternatively applicants should have relevant experience in fashion design and manufacture.
