This course will introduce you to the basic creative and practical aspects involved in photography.
Why take this course?
This course will introduce you to the basic creative and practical aspects involved in photography. It will allow you to develop a good understanding of the practices and processes involved in taking photographs, ensuring that those who wish to move on to more advanced levels of study or employment are well-equipped with the skills needed to do so.
You will start to build your own portfolio whilst studying fundamental aspects of photography including portraiture, studio photography, file optimisation, image manipulation and print.
What you will experience
You will build a good understanding of basic camera techniques, whilst developing your studio photography and portraiture skills. You will also learn about file optimisation and how to manipulate your images, ensuring you can edit and prepare your photographs effectively and creatively.
Applicants should have a minimum of four unit passes at National 5, Intermediate 2 or Standard Grade Credit level. Alternatively applicants should have relevant work experience or have successfully completed a relevant course at SCQF Level 5.
