This course is perfect for those who will thrive in a practical workshop environment. Please note that there are four options for studying the SVQ Performing Engineering Operations Level 2: Mechanical (incorporating Manufacture, Maintenance, Fabrication & Welding) course. In addition to this course, the following options exist:

The course delivered at the Altens Campus provides a taste of all disciplines, whereas the courses delivered at Fraserburgh Campus offer the opportunity to follow a more specific programme.

This course is a mandatory component for those in employment who are undertaking a Modern Apprenticeship at Craft, Technician or Graduate level. 

What you will experience

This course is perfect for those who will thrive in a practical, workshop environment. You will focus on practical work such as mechanical maintenance, MIG welding, fabrication and fitting, whilst also focusing on vital aspects of working in the industry, such as health and safety.

You cannot progress directly to university from this course, but after completion of a HND course that would become an option. 

Many graduates complete this course after completing their degree in order to improve their practical skills and experience.
