Why take this course?
This course is primarily aimed at those who would like an introduction to the complementary therapy sector in order to build a good level of knowledge and understanding whilst developing basic practical skills.
On successful completion of the course you may progress to the VRQ Level 3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies so that you can develop essential skills suitable for working in the industry.
What you will experience
This course will provide you with an introduction to the principles and practices of complementary therapy, focusing on basic massage, aromatherapy and reflexology techniques. You will also learn the theoretical aspects of complementary therapies including anatomy and physiology, healthy eating and the wellbeing of clients, operational knowledge relating to clinic services and business awareness.
The core skills included in the course are Communication, ITC, Numeracy and First Aid.
You will be expected to have a minimum of three National 5, Intermediate 2 or Standard Grade Credit level qualifications, or appropriate life/work experience in healthcare or nursing.
Good communication skills, a willingness to learn new practical skills and working with the general public are essential qualities for working towards attainment of this qualification. Essential skills are developed throughout the programme.
