Johnston Carmichael, Scotland’s largest independent firm of Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers, have formed a very successful partnership with North East Scotland College. Sheena Ross, Business Advisory Director and Tax Manager Jemma McBride from the Fraserburgh office have acted as mentors to a number of the students, giving talks on career options within accountancy as well as CV advice and mock interviews.
They also presented prizes to the best first and second year HND Accounting students, Augustina Uwadiae and Iris Hutcheon, and a 4 week summer placement was offered to Kristy MacDonald. This placement is offered annually to a student in the summer between the 1st and 2nd year of the course.
Johnston Carmichael are delighted with this partnership and hope that it continues. They are also proud to be one of the first businesses in Scotland to receive the Investors in Young People (IIYP) accreditation in recognition of their commitment to attracting, recruiting, developing and retaining talented young professionals.
Robert Laird, Faculty Manager for Business Management, Tourism and Enterprise at NESCol, said, “We are delighted that our partnership with Johnston Carmichael is going from strength to strength. Our accounting students benefit greatly from the contact the have with those working within the finance industry and we are very grateful for their ongoing commitment to support those training at College.”
