Meghan Bruce
Modern Apprenticeship
Logistics Operations
“I would love to extend my knowledge of the transport industry in the future – perhaps extra courses or learning on the job. There’s lots of exciting possibilities. From my experience I would definitely recommend an apprenticeship. You gain a qualification at the end of it and there’s all the help and support around you to make sure you succeed.”
Meghan Bruce works as a Logistics Co-ordinator for Caledonian Logistics. She has recently completed her Modern Apprenticeship qualification in Logistics Operations and has been shortlisted as a finalist for the NESCol Apprentice of the Year award.
The logistics sector was a complete unknown for Meghan when she accepted the apprenticeship position a year and a half ago.
Meghan said, “I wanted a job with progression and saw the apprenticeship position advertised so I applied knowing very little about it. To begin with it was quite stressful – there was so much information in a busy environment and every day was different to the last. Now I’m really enjoying it – it’s going really well.”
Meghan has been working in the office throughout the pandemic. When her role became slightly quieter last year, due to less freight on the roads, she was able to focus and complete her College work liaising with the NESCol assessor by email.
