Apprentice of the Year Award winners announced

North East Scotland College celebrated the successes of the Modern Apprenticeship programme at a recent awards ceremony held during Scottish Apprenticeship Week at Aberdeen Altens Campus.
Over 130 former apprentices, employers, family and friends came together to congratulate those who achieved their Modern Apprenticeship qualification over the last 12 months.
Duncan Abernethy, Director of Business Development, said: “It’s very reassuring to see the up-and-coming talent here today. The investment you have made in your education at NESCol has given you a qualification that demonstrates your competence in your chosen field of expertise.”
As part of NESCol’s Modern Apprenticeship Awards, College assessors were invited to submit nominations for the Apprentice of the Year award. This award is for those that have demonstrated excellence in attitude and effort, performance and contribution to the workplace.
Eight finalists were announced and received the following awards:

Reinus Parpcusis, Mechanical Engineer – Aberdeen Marine Laboratory
Emma Ross, Junior Stylist – Essence Hair & Beauty
Highly Commended
Finlay Burkinshaw, Mechanical Technician – SSE
Tain Cooper, Maintenance Technician – Macduff Shellfish
Special Recognition Award
Ross Davidson, Mechanical Engineer – Continental Alloys and Services
