Automotive students explore career opportunities with L&I Eaton
April 16, 2025
Automotive students recently gained valuable insight into working in a car repair centre with a visit to L&I Eaton’s Aberdeen site.
Fourteen students from this year’s Level 1 Diploma in Automotive Vehicle Accident Repair cohort were invited to the centre, which is conveniently located opposite NESCol’s Aberdeen Altens Campus.
L&I Eaton are the fifth largest independent accident repair group in the UK, with centres across Scotland and England. NESCol’s automotive team works closely with the company, training Modern Apprentices based at their Keith branch.
Interested in recruiting students for their Aberdeen site, L&I Eaton invited the group to tour the centre, hoping to offer apprenticeships and work experience opportunities in the future.
Greig Waddell, Head of Operations, L&I Eaton, said:
“We recently hosted an Apprentice Open Day at our L&I Eaton Aberdeen South site, welcoming students from North East Scotland College. It was fantastic to connect with such enthusiastic individuals eager to kickstart their careers in the automotive sector.
“We’re proud to support apprentices as they take their first steps in this exciting industry, helping develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.”
The students were given a guided tour of the centre’s new bodyshop facilities, participated in a Q&A session and were treated to lunch.
Darren Robertson, Curriculum Manager – Vehicle Technologies, NESCol, said:
“As our Altens neighbours, it’s great to collaborate with a local business. Industry visits are of huge benefit to our automotive students, helping them understand the different pathways available to them after College and build connections with local employers.
“We are grateful to L&I Eaton for continuing to work with us to train the next generation and providing our students with opportunities for career progression.”
