College update: Confirmation of the return to activity on campus
January 12, 2022
NESCol has confirmed a phased return to activity on campus. Face to face teaching for those in groups due to attend will resume on Monday (17 January).
This follows a short period of remote learning, which was introduced as part of the national and response to rising Coronavirus cases over the festive period.
From Monday the College will return to the blended learning model which was in operation prior to the festive break. This includes a mix of activity on campus, live online learning through the NESCol Virtual Learning Environment (Blackboard) and structured remote learning activities which give students flexibility in their schedule.
Access to campuses will continue to be carefully managed to limit numbers as part of a range of measures in place to protect the College community.
Students should only attend in person if informed they should be on site or are accessing advice or support services. Groups scheduled to attend will be notified directly via Blackboard or email, and students should check regularly for updates. Timetables will be revised at the earliest opportunity but it is important to follow the advice of the course leader in the first instance.
NESCol Principal Neil Cowie said: “The health, safety and wellbeing of all connected with NESCol is our priority and we take great pride in the way in which we have demonstrated our ability to deliver safe activity on campus.
“Our approach is in line with Scottish Government guidance for colleges and I am pleased that we have been able to minimise disruption to courses as we enter an important stage of the College year.”
Students and staff have been reminded of the importance of testing prior to attending any College facilities and NESCol is also supporting the regional vaccination programme.
