College update: Extension to festive holidays
December 9, 2021
Two additional days have been added to NESCol’s festive holidays.
This is in recognition of the efforts of students and staff in 2021.
Tuesday, 21 December, and Wednesday, 22 December, are the additional holiday dates.
Additional changes to the College calendar have also made to protect the NESCol community during the festive period.
On Monday, 20 December, a day of remote learning will be in place. Students and staff timetabled to attend campus that day you should instead work from home, unless informed otherwise by their course leader or line manager.
On Thursday, January 6, and Friday, January 7, there will be two further days of remote learning. Students and staff timetabled to attend campus on those days should instead work from home, unless informed otherwise by their course leader or line manager.
Normal timetabled activity is scheduled to resume on Monday, January 10. This will be reviewed in advance of that date, taking into account the latest Scottish Government guidance.
Principal Neil Cowie said: “The decision taken by the Leadership Team to extend the holiday period underlines the sincere appreciation of the hard work and dedication demonstrated in the face of ongoing adversity by our students and staff.
“We also recognise the rapidly evolving guidance in relation to Coronavirus and the concern that has been communicated to the public by the Scottish Government this week. In light of this we have agreed to implement three remote working days to protect the NESCol community during this period.”
The College continues to employ a blended learning model for the 2021/22 session. Timetables include a mix of activity on campus, live online learning through the NESCol Virtual Learning Environment and structured remote learning activities which give students flexibility in their schedule.
