Introducing you to important aspects of the built environment.
Why take this course?
This course is aimed at those who wish to enter the industry as trainees or technicians in the offices of architects or surveyors, or those who wish to progress to the HNC Built Environment course. It is also suitable for those who are new to the industry in a technician’s role, who want to strengthen their existing skills.
What you will experience
This course will introduce you to fundamental concepts such as domestic building services, building technology, sustainable design for architecture and health and safety.
You will also develop important practical skills in technical drawing, CAD and construction calculations.
Applicants should have qualifications at National 5, Intermediate 2 or Standard Grade Credit level (preferably including English, Numeracy and a science subject) as well as National 4, Intermediate 1 or General level Maths, at a minimum.
All other qualifications at National 4 or National 5 level will be taken into account.
Please note that applicants will also be asked to completed an aptitude test.

If you choose to complete the HNC course after completing your NC, you may want to then consider moving on to a university degree. Depending on the university, you could enter in to year 2 or year 3 of a related course.
