Why take this course?
This course is primarily aimed at those who want to learn more about the health and social care sectors, and will explore the complexities of delivering effective care to a variety of service users.
The subjects covered will teach you about the expectations and values in different care roles, and the range of professions and opportunities that might be available in your chosen field.
Overall the course is an excellent introduction to health and social care, and acts as excellent preparation for progression towards further study or employment.
What you will experience
You will explore fundamental areas of child, health and social care – covering a range of important topics from sociology and families in modern society to mental health, the human body and psychology. You will also build essential skills in communication, IT and numeracy.
The course covers NC Child, Health & Social Care at Level 5, as well as incorporating a National 5 Care qualification.
Applicants should have four National 4, Intermediate 1 or Standard Grade General level (Grade 3 or above) qualifications, and two National 5 qualifications (including English) at Grade C or above. Alternatively, applicants should have successfully completed a relevant course at SCQF Level 4.
Other qualifications and experience may be considered but the ability to work at SCQF Level 5 is essential. A genuine aptitude for working with people and good communication skills are essential.
