Computer Arts & Animation SCQF Level 6
This project-based course is designed for those who wish to pursue a career in computer arts and animation - an exciting and rapidly expanding area of the creative industries.
Why take this course?
This course takes a hands-on approach to computer arts and animation, achieved through creative development and visual thinking. You will put your creativity to the test in extensive practical design work whilst building important transferable skills such as planning, organisation and time-management.
What you will experience
You will learn about digital media, graphic design and corporate identity, and its importance and influence in modern-day business. You will also strengthen your creative 2D and 3D composition, analytical drawing and graphic illustration skills, and see practice and theory combine when you create your own unique pieces of work.
This course also involves a creative web project, and you will cover Communications and Numeracy at SCQF Level 5.
Applicants should have relevant knowledge and skills, and a minimum of four course passes at National 5, Intermediate 2 or Standard Grade Credit level.
Alternatively, applicants should have relevant work experience or successful completion of a relevant introductory level course at SCQF Level 4 or 5 and a folio of artwork or evidence of drawing skills.

You cannot progress to university directly from this course but after completion of further study at HNC/HND level, you may be able to move on to a degree programme at one of our associate universities. Entry is at the discretion of each university and is usually based on the portfolio evidence presented by the individual candidate at interview.
