This course aims to provide students with practical construction skills and industry-standard knowledge.
Students will gain additional SQA Level 5 units, hands-on experience with tools, and an understanding of essential workplace practices.
Designed for students continuing after the Winter Leaver Programme, it is also open to winter leavers who have decided to leave school.
By bridging the gap between the Winter Leaver Programme, school, and full apprenticeships, this course enables a seamless transition to uninterrupted learning.
Students will learn practical skills like joinery, brickwork, painting, decorating, and health and safety. They’ll also build teamwork and problem-solving skills.
The course is delivered in person through workshops, group projects, and independent tasks, with a strong focus on hands-on learning.
Digital tools for building CVs and researching the industry will be included, along with key health and safety practices in workshops.
Group projects encourage teamwork, and instructors with industry experience provide valuable insights.
Students will be assessed through practical tasks with checklists, and they’ll receive regular feedback to help them improve.
