Learn to produce delicious desserts and patisserie.


Why take this course?

Just Desserts is a course completely devoted to the art of creating beautiful and delicious desserts and patisserie. The course focuses on the preparation of eight different desserts including strawberry and pink champagne cake and lemon meringue pie. It will also teach you about working with pastry, sugar and/or chocolate work and the use of seasonal ingredients.

What you will experience

You will build confidence in using the different techniques involved in the making of homemade desserts, and a varied selection of continental and American desserts will be covered. You will also focus on:

  • Knife handling techniques
  • Precision dessert preparation techniques using all prepared ingredients
  • The creation of up to eight different gourmet desserts
  • The use of natural flavours and ingredients
  • Dish presentation techniques

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

What you will need

Students should wear appropriate clothing for working in a kitchen/bakery environment (flat shoes, no jewellery and long hair tied back) and should bring their own apron each week. Students may also be asked to provide some equipment, but this will be advised by the tutor.
