This course will build on your current knowledge of electrical engineering to prepare you for progression towards further study or employment.
Why take this course?
This course will build on your current skills and knowledge when it comes to electrical engineering, allowing you to qualify for a National Certificate Group Award. This means you can then progress towards employment or opt for further study in the form of a Higher National qualification at HNC/HND level.
What you will experience
You will cover various electrical principles including plant maintenance, testing, measurement and fundamental systems, computing and mathematics in electrical engineering. Throughout the course all practical work is thoroughly backed by the appropriate theory.
Applicants should have an NC qualification at SCQF Level 5 and both Maths Craft 1 and Maths Craft 2 units. Alternatively, applicants should have National 5 Maths (Grade A or B); Standard Grade Maths at Credit level; or Intermediate 2 Maths including units 1, 2 and 3.
Other qualifications and experience will be considered, but all applicants should show an interest in and aptitude for the subject.

If you choose to complete a HNC or HND course after completing your NC, you may want to then consider moving on to a university degree. Depending on the university, you could enter in to year 2 or year 3 of a related course.
