This course will introduce you to specific engineering subjects and build on your mechanical engineering skills.
Why take this course?
This course is perfect for those who want to build on the mechanical engineering skills they have developed in their SVQ Level 2 qualification and who have ambition to become a skilled craftsperson or operative in a range of industries.
What you will experience
Students will learn how to perform vital processes such as engineering materials; engineering principles; measurement; milling operation; fabrication; welding; graphical engineering communication and computer–aided drafting (CAD) as well as developing employability skills such as IT, maths, communication and health and safety practice. This course is a mix of practical and theory. Practical training takes place in our modern, well-equipped workshops which provide a realistic working environment and will prepare you well for future employment and possible progression to a Modern Apprenticeship.
Applicants should have completed an SVQ Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations with the addition of a maths unit for direct entry. Please note that this is a progression course only.
