Why take this course?
This course will provide you with a broad range of practical maintenance engineering skills, strongly supported by relevant theory covered in class. It is designed for those who wish to become a skilled maintenance fitter or operative.
What you will experience
Your focus will be on areas such as Computer Aided Draughting (CAD), graphical engineering communication, pneumatics and hydraulics and diesel plant safety and maintenance. As an engineer working in the sector you will be using core skills every day.
As a result your communication, numeracy, IT, problem solving and team working abilities will be developed throughout the course. There is also a strong focus on health and safety in the workplace.
Applicants should have successfully completed a qualification at SVQ Level 2, with the addition of a maths qualification for direct entry.
Alternatively, applicants should have National 5 Maths at grade C or D.
