There are no formal entry requirements for this course however students are expected to have a keen interest and passion for the Social Care sector.
Looking to enter the Care sector? Then this course is for you!
It is an ideal introduction into a Care career and all that it offers.
You should enjoy working with people, be compassionate, have a sense of fun and want to help others live their lives to the full.
You will be able to work through the learning materials at your own pace, supplementing your learning through videos and links to further information.
On completion there will be a discussion to talk about your career or future training aspirations.
The course will cover the following:
What is Adult Social Care? The rewards of working in the sector and the opportunities for progression.
Introduction to value-based care, the importance of good communication and working as part of a team.
Duty of care, SSSC, Care Standards, safeguarding and boundaries, infection control, digital enabled care.
Defining reflective practice and its importance, model for reflection, and learning from effective reflection.
Exploring progress and career opportunities, Scottish qualification structure, employers’ views, service users’ views, employment, and further study opportunities.

This course is run over a 6 week period and requires approx 60 hours of study time.
As this course is provided online, students will require access to IT equipment and internet access to allow them to complete the course.
A college tutor will be available to provide support and encouragement to ensure participant engagement with all the topics, and to monitor progress.
Whether you wish to progress in your studies or enter the world of work, North East Scotland College has excellent progression opportunities, with links to several universities across Scotland and strong relationships with industry employers.
On successful completion of this course you may wish to: enter the care industry; begin a Modern Apprenticeship programme once employed or enrol onto a full time course in Social Care (3 days a week)
