Move to online graduations confirmed for 2021

The 2021 NESCol graduation ceremonies will move to an online format in response to the ongoing restrictions to prevent the spread of Coronavirus.

Students who completed courses in 2020 will also be invited to join the virtual events after last year’s ceremonies were postponed.

College graduations traditionally take place in autumn and dates for the online events will be confirmed soon.

NESCol Principal Neil Cowie said: “The health, safety and wellbeing of the College community has been at the heart of the decisions we have taken in the past year and that is the case with this measure.

“Although it is possible that mass gatherings may be permitted in some form later in the year, we are not in a position to plan for large ceremonies.

“Instead we will channel our energy to ensuring a celebration of achievements in a virtual format for those who are eligible to take part, offering an opportunity for all who have supported students on their journey through College the chance to be part of that occasion.

“My thanks go to students for their understanding as we work through these challenging times together.”
