NESCol students to compete at AHT nationals

Congratulations to everyone who competed in the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists Scottish Area North Competition held at North East Scotland College on Monday 25th January. All entrants, who were from both NESCol and Dundee and Angus College, came well prepared and worked to a very high standard. Competitions included: Classical 80s Makeup, Fantasy (Total Look), Ladies Evening Style and Team Bridal.
The first three trainees placed in each competition will be invited to enter the national finals which take place on 14th March in Blackpool.
John O’Hara from South Lanarkshire College, who judged all competitions, told the students how impressed he was with the high standard of work on display throughout the event. Mr O’Hara is a fully-qualified hairdresser and also holds an HND in make-up artistry. He has worked for Education Scotland as a student representative, worked for Lancôme and is now student engagement manager at South Lanarkshire College. He previously won UK skills for hairdressing before being placed second at World Skills and also judges competitions for the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists.
NESCol students who will be invited to compete in Blackpool are, from Aberdeen City Campus: Lucy Barnett, Kristina Baron, Stewart Clark, Emma Webster, Neeve Clark, Kaysha Leel, Gabriela Syryca, Susie Robb, Cally Hendry, Hayleigh Green, Dani Hepburn, Georgie Spence, Rachael Greig, Kirsty Bower and Brogan Cassie along with Arina Morarova from the College’s Fraserburgh Campus.
