Student Spotlight: Christopher Tattersall, Higher English (part-time)

Christopher Tattersall was working as a taxi driver up until two years ago, but - inspired by his niece and nephew - decided to make a dramatic career change and begin training to become a teacher.

Armed with a degree from 2006, he began to look into studying his Professional Graduates Degree in Education (PGDE), but it quickly became apparent that he would need a minimum of a C in Higher English - something he did not currently have.

He said: "I approached NESCol as to potential options. I was delighted to find that I could study part-time, as financially I still required to maintain full employment."

He enrolled in the course and never looked back.

"Having graduated with an A – which I firmly believe has a lot to do with the quality of support and direction given at NESCol – I have progressed to the PGDE course. Additionally, I have done really well in my written assessments.  Again, I believe that this is in no small part to the supportive, encouraging and engaging staff at NESCol. Martin and Tony are never short of encouragement and support for students and I believe that they have had a large part in where I am at present.

"As a budding teacher, I hope that I can replicate a similar class climate for success and achievement as they do."

Are you thinking about studying Higher English? NESCol offers this on a part time basis, with the next course beginning in August 2018.
