School staff upskill at NESCol
January 22, 2020
The Science Team at NESCol’s Aberdeen City Campus are running a course for school and college science technicians this week. The SSERC (Scottish Schools Education Research Centre) award covers safe and correct working practices in microbiology and is being taught in the College’s industry standard laboratories over three days.
Technicians are attending from secondary schools across Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire and also from private schools in Aberdeen and Perthshire. Two of NESCOL’s science technical support staff are also taking up the opportunity. The course is being delivered by Laura Young, Science Lecturer, who along with colleague Aakash Don, worked to achieve SSERC accreditation to offer this award.
A further CPD opportunity at NESCol is upcoming in February which may be of interest to Teachers of Chemistry.
