Apprenticeship overview

The Engineering MA combines paid employment with learning at NESCol.

Apprentices gain industry-recognised qualifications while also building practical workplace skills.

The Engineering MA framework outlines what apprentices need to learn and achieve to complete their apprenticeship.

It includes:

  • One PEO (Performing Engineering Operations) at Level 2
  • One National Certificate (NC) or one Higher National Certificate (HNC)
  • One Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) at Level 3
  • Meta-skills

SCQF levels show the overall level of learning within the MA.

SCQF Level 7

Apprentices build advanced technical skills and knowledge, with greater responsibility for their own work as well as others.

A typical Engineering MA lasts four years.

The College learning for this MA is based at Aberdeen Altens or Fraserburgh Campus.

The Sector Skills Council for the Engineering MA is Enginuity.
