Aberdeen Arts Centre show provides NESCol artists with a chance to shine
June 4, 2021
Art and design students at North East Scotland College will showcase their work with a virtual exhibition hosted by Aberdeen Arts Centre next week.
The show will open on Monday (7 June) and runs for a week on the centre’s website.
The traditional end of year exhibition for second year HND students could not be hosted by the College under current restrictions on events.
The online show has provided a welcome alternative and visitors are being promised a visual treat.
David Downie, a lecturer in Art and Design based at the City Campus, said: “The students have an incredible show lined-up and we’re very grateful to the Aberdeen Arts Centre for their support in acting as digital hosts.
“It has been a challenging year in so many ways – but with that hasn’t dampened the creative energy and spirit. The exhibition will feature tremendous variety and really underlines the talent and passion we have at NESCol.
“We’re looking forward to sharing that with virtual visitors and it promises to be a really fun and engaging show.”
The exhibition will be available from Monday at www.aberdeenartscentre.com .
Stephanie Walls, Manager at Aberdeen Arts Centre, said: “The virtual exhibition will put the work of the students in the limelight and we’re delighted to be hosting this year’s show on behalf of NESCol. Nurturing the region’s creative talent is a huge part of our work at Aberdeen Arts Centre and we are proud to be playing our part in responding to the unusual circumstances this year.”
