This will suit candidates who have some basic electrical knowledge either involved in, or looking to become involved in, the inspection and testing of electrical equipment (eg portable appliances), and/or involved in managing the process of it.
Successful completion will result in the Level 3 Award in the in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment (PAT Testing)
The course will cover:
• The statutory requirements
• Basic Electrical Theory
• Equipment classification symbols
• Frequencies for testing
• Formal visual inspection
• Earth continuity (earthbonding)
• Insulation resistance and earth leakage
• Operation/load checking
• Interpretation of test results
• Instrumentation
• Recording

Candidates must complete a one hour multiple choice, online, open book exam.
Your course may be free if you are not a full time student with NESCol and you are: in receipt of benefits; or care-experienced; or your household taxable income falls below defined levels.
