Fee Waiver

Applicable to support:

  • Trainee Merchant Navy Deckhand
  • The course fee may be waived if any of the following apply to you and you are not a current student at North East Scotland College
  • If you or your family is in receipt of any of the following benefits:
    • Pension Credit, Working Tax Credit, Housing Benefit, Income Support, Income Based Job Seekers’ Allowance, Income Related Employment and Support Allowance

Applicable to support:

  • Selected Merchant Navy short courses

The Theodore Salvesen Memorial Trust

Applicable to support:

  • Selected Merchant Navy courses

MARS Training Shipping Fund

Applicable to support:

  • Selected Merchant Navy and Fishing courses

MARS funding application forms are available from the Academy.

Seafish

Applicable to support:

  • Selected short sea fishing safety courses
  • Deck Officer Class 2 Fishing
  • Deck Officer Class 1 Fishing

Seafish may also offer funding to fishermen who want to undertake voluntary training to develop their safety skills.
