Why take this course?

This four-day course is designed for learners to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of heat pump system installation requirements. Covering the different operational characteristics of each type of heat pump, including air, ground and exhaust heat pumps.

Relevant for both new build homes and for those updating existing systems.

Fully-funded course

Delivered in partnership with the National Energy Skills Accelerator (NESA) and with support from Scottish Government’s Just Transition Fund, this course is fully-funded, so there are no costs for participants.

What you will experience

The course consists of four days of training and assessment. Training days allow candidates to enhance their knowledge before undertaking the assessment.

Topics include:

  • Heat Pumps in context
  • How a Heat Pump works — principles and components
  • Insulation, heat losses and the effect of heating system design
  • Domestic hot water and buffer tanks
  • Ground heat exchangers
  • Health and safety
  • Heat Pump installation
  • Maintenance and fault finding

Applicants must attend all four days of the course.
