Why take this course?

This qualification is a legal requirement for anyone who works with fluorinated gases (F-gas) and ozone-depleting substances (ODS).

It is suitable for those who work (or are looking to work) as a refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump system engineer, and already have some relevant knowledge and skills.

Learners who successfully complete this qualification will be legally entitled to work on these systems within the UK in line with the 2009 F-Gas and ODS Regulations.

What you will experience

This five-day course is exclusively available for delivery at our Fraserburgh Campus for up to six delegates.

Delegates will complete practical exercises to charge and recover gasses from a refrigeration system. Assessment is by completion of an observed practical exercises and computer-based tests.

You will learn:

  • The requirements of statutory regulation and legislation
  • The theory and thermodynamics of vapour compression cycles and refrigerants
  • How to identify the hazards and safe working practices for refrigerant handling (and relate to causes and effects of global warming and climate change)
  • How to identify stationary refrigerants, air conditioning and heat pump system components, functions and leakage risks
  • How to fabricate and examine pipe work, and undertake pressure testing, evacuation, charging, recovery and record keeping
