Fraserburgh Campus receives renewables technology donation worth £7000 from Infinity Group Ltd

October 20, 2026

The next generation of electrical engineers at NESCol will have the opportunity to develop their understanding of renewable energy technologies with the generous donation of equipment worth around £7,000 from Infinity Group Ltd.

The family-run business donated a Solar PV and Battery Storage Test Rig which will be used by students across all electrical engineering courses delivered at Fraserburgh Campus.

The rig gives students practical experience with solar power and battery storage systems, helping them build the skills and knowledge for careers in the evolving electrical industry. Students are also able to monitor energy production and consumption in real time through a mobile app.

Callum Campell, Director, Infinity Group Ltd, said:

“Having spoken with David Blackhall, it was inspiring to hear how positive the team is about working collaboratively to strengthen teaching, learning and progression opportunities for students entering the electrical industry.

“We regularly employ students who have completed electrical courses at Fraserburgh Campus, supporting them as they progress onto the SECTT apprenticeship scheme.

“The campus’ industry-standard workshops and facilities provide an excellent learning environment, giving students valuable hands-on experience that reflects the realities and expectations of the workplace.

“I myself am a NESCol Alumni, having studied at Fraserburgh Campus many years ago and had an excellent learning experience.

“We are proud to support the development of emerging talent and look forward to continuing our collaboration as we work together to develop the next generation of highly skilled electrical professionals.”

NESCol offers a variety of full-time and part-time electrical engineering courses at Fraserburgh Campus, from SCQF Level 5 to Level 8.

David Blackhall, Academic Improvement Lead for Electrical, NESCol, said:

“Industry support like this plays a vital role in preparing our students for successful careers in the electrical sector.

“This generous donation from Infinity Group Ltd will strengthen our teaching resources and give learners valuable opportunities to take what they learn in the classroom and see how it applies in real-world, industry settings.

“We are incredibly grateful to Infinity Group Ltd for supporting the next generation of electrical engineers and for helping us inspire our students to explore the growing opportunities within renewable energy.

“By bringing industry knowledge and practical applications into the classroom, we can help our learners develop the skills, confidence and understanding they need to thrive in the future workplace.”
