NESCol shines in student satisfaction survey

July 9, 2024

Student Satisfaction and Engagement Survey results have underlined NESCol’s success in providing a supportive and nurturing environment.

The annual research, covering the 2023-24 academic year, was well supported by the College community. The Scottish Funding Council sets a participation target of 50% – at NESCol this year 80% of full-time FE students and 77% of full-time HE students took part. For part-time students, those figure were 55% (FE) and 72% (HE).

Overall positive satisfaction, the headline statistic from what is a detailed and comprehensive report, has remained consistently high at 90%. It is expected to ensure NESCol retains its place among the leading institutions in Scotland for student satisfaction when national data is published.

NESCol Principal Neil Cowie said:  “As we’ve become accustomed to, the results are a tremendously positive reflection on the work of colleagues throughout NESCol.

“The engagement by students ensures the findings provide an excellent representation of the views of those we serve. The survey is one of the key tools in ensuring the voice of our students is heard, not only in terms of the quantitative data but also the free-form responses which are collated and shared with staff. There is much to be proud of, as well as areas for enhancement that we will consider in full and act upon as part of our drive for continuous improvement.

“I’m very appreciative of the efforts of staff for helping to create an environment in which students feel supported, nurtured and part of something very special.”
