This course is aimed at those 16 years and over. Applicants need to be able to demonstrate prior successful study at SCQF Level 5 or above.
This course will give you an introduction to the theory behind, and practical application of, sports massage. It will allow you to devise a treatment plan for an athlete and use appropriate massage techniques to deliver that treatment under the supervision of experienced staff members. Students will learn to review a treatment plan, and their own performance, to suggest further treatment opportunities and areas for self improvement.
During this course, you will learn how to meet and greet a client, explore the need for treatment and plan effective intervention. You will develop your confidence in this area and practice the skills required for physical application. This course will provide the relevant introductory experience required for those intending to progress to a formal sports therapy qualification.

A note book and pen, access to an electronic device and a willingness to have physical contact with a client in order to demonstrate appropriate massage techniques.
This is course contains practical application and delivery of massage techniques and will require physical contact with others. This may also include participation in receiving the proposed techniques as part of the learning process and delivery of the classes.
Your course may be free if you are not a full time student with NESCol and you are: in receipt of benefits; or care-experienced; or your household taxable income falls below defined levels.
